I had to stop myself from eating this straight from the container! This would have to be the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. I dont think there are words invented that could do this justice but I will try.

HEAVEN on a spoon! The instant creamy taste is quite something but then comes the after taste which is nearly something completely different again. My mind was spinning to what I could do with this curd that wouldnt change this taste sensation.

I made an ambrosia with cream, a little coconut and white chocolate. Sadly only a little as I wanted to be able to try other ways with it. I tried it in pastry cups and made a meringue topping. These were a huge hit with the family. Not often I see them lost for words in a positive way about my baking.

Cannon Hill.... You guys have out done yourselves! Thank you.

So I opened this with trepidation. Anything with the word curd makes me shudder - I think as a child curd was not something to be enjoyed. This was my first adult experience with it.

Have to say I was surprised at how good it was. I gave one of my children a small amount just on a teaspoon and she wanted more. I liked the sweetness of it although it definitely tasted more citrusy than passionfruit. I also loved the yellow colour and the consistency with very few passionfruit pips.

Because the container wasn't big I wanted to try a couple of things. Using the suggestion on the side of the container I had some pre made pastry cases and I filled 6 of these with some of the curd and topped them with well whipped cream and some chocolate shavings. As a dessert they were great and two each were definitely enough.

Next I prepared a packet mix of chocolate cupcakes and I half filled the tins with mix, added a dollop of curd, and then topped more mix. Once baked I cooled them and then I let the kids try them. I didn't ice these as I thought with the curd it made them sweet enough. The kids loved them and liked biting into the flaky texture of the muffin to meet the soft smooth curd and the flavours went really well with chocolate. They were best the day I made them but that was probably more about the muffin than the curd.

I would buy this again but probably only once in awhile. It doesn't lend itself to the budget terribly well and I would consider it, for us, a luxury item to have. However I would recommend it for the quality, flavour and texture - it was divine!

I received the Cannon Hill Lemon Passionfruit Curd to review yesterday. I was looking forward to this because of two reasons. Firstly, I love butters and curds. They taste fantastic and creamy. They are very versatile, being good on toast, in baking - muffin fillings, special lemony icing, pancake or ice cream topping, you name it I have done it! My second reason was that I have recently tried a lemon and passionfruit curd made by another company and I wanted to see how Cannon Hill measured up.

So the packet arrived and I put it in the fridge for the morning. This morning, at breakfast time I cooked some toast, and got ready for the experience. The packet is pretty simple, no-nonsense plastic. The information on the pack was really clear and easy to read as well. As I went to open the pack, though I encountered a pretty secure lid! I couldnt break the seal easily and ended up using a knife to cut the easy open lip off and to jimmy the packet open. You can't say that's not a secure packet.

Once the lid was off I could see the beautiful creamy colour. The consistency was not like other curds - it was quite an easy flow creamy curd, not jellied like some you can pick up. The tell-tale passionfruit seeds poked through as well. Yay, I was ready for Breakfast.

I spread it on liberally and cut up the toast so my daughter could try some too. The flavour of the curd is not overpoweringly sweet. It tastes a little like lemon, passionfruit curd mixed into a sour cream. I really liked the flavour, kinda like an adult curd. My daughter has a massive sweet tooth, but even she loved this curd. She even said to me "I love the food you are giving me!" and usually if its not chocolate spread on toast you are a loser.

This is a great curd, and I can't wait to try it in other ways. I would definitely consider purchasing this product again, as something a bit different. It would also make a great gift, with the package being really well presented. As I say, the only negative thing I encountered was the ultra secure packaging.

After having recently tried Lime Curd recently, and being well aware of lemon curd, trying one with passionfruit in it was something I was very much looking forward to. This, smeared generously on a plain bun with a little bit of margarine was wonderful - full of tangy lemon and smooth sweet passionfruit... and to make it better, it tasted just as good when I left off the margarine too.

I was able to hold some of this back for later, and wanted to test it in a cheesecake, but demands for less cheesecake around the house prevented me from doing this, so it was time for Plan B - muffin stuffers! Some lemon muffins, with a dollop of this curd plopped on top just before shoving them in the oven... wait a while... and bingo, time to pull them out and let them cool.

Results were astonishing - I haven't tried making this style of muffin before - with a filled center - and so I was not only pleased they didn't fail miserably, but also found myself overjoyed at how well the curd performed, thickening up nicely to form a blob of yummy, zingy filling that was somewhere between a thick curd and a light toffee in consistency.

Mixing a bit more of this curd with some cream cheese made for a simple, flavourful icing that was literally child's play to make, and needed absolutely nothing else to bring it to perfection.

Overall, this is a very appealing, versatile curd that goes down a treat. The price is a little steeper than I would be happy to pay too often, but well within our "occasional treat" range, and can be easily ordered online through the Cannon Hill website.
